Ingredients:
For the Filling:
1 lb Karl’s Meats ground beef (10% off for pi Day)
½ lb Karl’s Meats Rookwurst (our signature smoked Dutch sausage, sliced)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup frozen peas
1 tbsp Dutch speculaas spice blend (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger) or 1 tsp cinnamon + ½ tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ cup beef broth
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Pie:
2 sheets pre-rolled puff pastry (or homemade dough)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Optional: ½ cup grated Henri Willig Kass Spiced Gouda (available at Karl’s Meats!)

Other Sausages: We offer a curated selection from trusted suppliers (e.g., German bratwurst, Italian salami) for diverse recipes.
Instructions:
Cook the Filling:
Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and carrots. Sauté until softened.
Stir in sliced Rookwurst, peas, spices, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble the Pie:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a pie dish with one sheet of puff pastry. Add the meat filling and sprinkle with cheese (if using).
Cover with the second pastry sheet. Crimp edges to seal, then cut a small “π” symbol in the center for Pi Day flair!
Brush with egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake:
Bake 30-35 minutes until the crust is puffed and golden.
Serve:
Slice and enjoy warm with a side of Dutch mustard or Kühne sauerkraut (available at Karl’s Meats!).

Rookwurst Substitute: Prefer a different sausage? Try smoked bratwurst or chorizo.
